Gevgelija

Gevgelija sits on the Vardar River right at North Macedonia's border with Greece, a position that has made it a trade and transit town for centuries. Today it's also known for cross-border casino resorts that draw day-trippers from Greece, alongside an economy built on early fruit and vegetable growing in the mild southern climate. Nearby Lake Dojran adds a freshwater counterpart to the border-town character of Gevgelija itself.
