About Strumica
Strumica anchors a warm, fertile valley in the Southeast Region known for early vegetable growing, and is best known nationally for the Strumica Carnival, one of the oldest and largest pre-Lenten carnivals in the Balkans. Above the city, the ruins of Tsarevi Kuli fortress look out over the plain, while nearby Bansko is home to thermal mineral springs that have drawn visitors for generations. The combination of festival culture and spa tourism gives Strumica a distinct identity among Macedonia's regional cities.
