Tetovo

Tetovo sits in the Polog Valley at the foot of Šar Mountain, one of North Macedonia's highest ranges and home to the Popova Šapka ski resort above the city. Its best-known landmark is the Šarena Džamija, the 15th-century “Painted Mosque” covered in vivid floral frescoes, alongside the Arabati Baba Tekke, a historic Bektashi dervish lodge. With a large Albanian population alongside Macedonian, Turkish and Roma communities, Tetovo is one of the country's most multicultural cities.
